Jacob Lunderby

(Philadelphia, PA)

The general scope of my work involves the layering of images, patterns and other devices of abstraction into complex structures rooted in notions of history, contemporary culture and post-structuralist philosophy. I construct paintings through layers of images and patterns, forming new relationships that enfold meaning within strategies of repetition, simulation and

duration. I see my work as an investigation of themes of nature and artifice, the periphery of attention and sensibilities of the mundane. Through mixing blatant and subtle signals of these strategies, I delay resolution in favor of extending a fluidity of thought.
